Relationship (Part III) - The beginning
Betty
I watched Ugly Betty this morning (Season 1 Episode 17). Surely, most of TV Show with teenager as the audience target will consist of love story. But I should say that Ugly Betty brings a good one.
The story is simple. Betty was breaking up with his boyfriend Walter because she was attracted to the accountant working in the same building with her - Henry. But unluckily, Henry’s ex-gilfriend came over and wanted to work out on their relationship. And who can say no to Charlie (at least I can’t)
, acted by Jayma Mays, the same girl Hiro fall in love in Heroes (and her name is also Charlie in Heroes, it would be great if they can suddenly crossover the storyline, but I don’t see it coming)
This conflict is great. Because as the title goes, Betty is a very average looking girl, and she couldn’t compete with Charlie in term of appearance. And Charlie is so far away from bitchy type of girl making her so out of line to break up Henry and Charlie relationship. I don’t wanna go more to the part where they may get each other as Henry is still interested in Betty, but as I said, who can say no to Charlie?
So, how does this story related to this post? Simple, as I watch the show and see the obvious spark between Betty and Henry, I keep telling the Betty (ah, I’m so pathetic, ain’t I?), just confess to Henry, try to get him!
Ha ha, that was not the first time I had the same idea. I told one my friend years ago, just go for it (try to win the girl’s heart). Let her choose between you and the other guy. It’s not like they are engaged or what. Well, honestly, I might not have the same way now but starting up a relationship was pretty tough (at least for me).
Is it a yes or what?
I don’t want to refer to my own case as it will sounded so pathetic (I told my sister and it sounded pathetic), so I’m referring to my friend’s case in KMPP as an example. My friend likes this particular girl. He told her and she wasn’t say much, but she didn’t say no.

Believe me, there are a lot of people out there who do not understand ’sign language’. I guess, some girls try to be polite. Instead of saying ‘no’, they tend to keep silent, give some sign that they are not interested and so on. But some guys just don’t get it. They might assume that it is a sign of ‘keep on trying!’.
I mean, it is that way in our culture, at least. We try to win the heart, and hoping ending up in a marriage. In contrast with the western culture where the sign is much more obvious as if a girl doesn’t say anything and then she sleeps with other guy, so it is a blatant no. Oops, going too much (watching too much US tv show).
Anyway, I’m not giving the example for no reason. When it comes about starting the relationship, people are having various idea. Some people try to read between the lines, read some sign and all. As for me, I don’t really believe in ‘hints’. I guess I try not to believe, as I may. Just try to avoid being paranoid.
The criteria
Even for starting a relationship, some people already have the criteria in their mind.
Whether the appearance, money, or attitude. Ask me, I say for man, go with good looking girl because even if she is a bitch, it still feel good when you look her; and woman, go with the money so that you can use that to buy all the jewellery. I always wanted to say that. But here’s the fact: I ‘am’ kidding for sure.
Everybody knows that they have to go with the attitude. Coz you can’t buy attitude with pretty faces nor credit cards. But still, how much do you know that the attitude
will remains the same? That’s another tricky question.
