Fairytale

Published by flexin-am at 7:35 pm under My Philosophy

I love fairytale. Contrary to nowadays children, who got more of comics than educational reading material, from my observation of my nephews (not my niece), I was raised by reading fairytale. Some translated English folklore such as Cinderella to native stories such as Bawang Putih Bawang Merah were among the things I read back then.

.

Nowadays, people are creating a lot of modern fairytale. At this point I wonder, how to spot on the material we can call a fairytale. From my perspective, a fairytale is something which capture the emotion of sad and happy, fear and bravery but not in the way it become to complicated and very serious material. By that, it simply means that Harry Potter is not a fairytale material (Lot of Harry Potter fans are agreeing with me at this point) but movies like Princess Diary, Lizzie Mcguire The Movie and even Shrek are fairytale materials (How can I jump from girls movies to animation, one might wonder).

But due to the culture, which introduce the term of ‘cool’ and ‘lame’, ‘rock’ and ‘dork’, most of the modern fairytale movie falls into teen-flicks category. My friend, Simon once compare me to ‘a single 30 year old lady drinking wine’ for displaying my adoration towards those things. Like usual, I smile after hearing those comments.

.

I should say that I always love watching good movies. Pirate of Carribean, Resident Evil and those stuff contains good storyline including Kill Bill, if you wonder whether I watch such violence things (although most of the time I was turning my head away whenever the ‘head-chopping’ scene came out).

.

But those genre aren’t always satisfying. Some movies are really putting their effort towards the great technology of CGI or just with stuntman and explosion, until they forgot how important the storyline is. Story such as Transporter 2 and MI3 could be written in few paragraphs to describe the whole storyline.

.

To be fair, some people just love the action, while I just love the same repeated storyline being told over and over again in different kind of way (and probably the same). Watching 13 going 30 last night (Jennifer Garner) and What A Girl Want (Amanda Bynes) made me smile all the way to the end.

.

Ha ha ha, I am laughing at myself for living such a pathetic life. Wondering if I am living in my own fairytale and will have a happily-ever-after ending. Waiting for a princess to save me…. oops… it should be the other way around though.LOL.

.

Well if I am writing the end scene of my own fairytale, it should be
like this. After all of those challenges we gone through (we - me and the princess), we endedCinderella_story_1 up the scene by dancing in the middle of the green grass field at night with some light from the streetlight (not from the candle coz that would be so wiccan style nor from the burning thing coz it’s like the Survivor council) where my favourite songs being played (not those cheesy pop songs I love to hear, maybe some Maroon 5 - She Will Be Loved or some classic such as ‘Time After Time’ [love the American Idol Ford Video which takes this song]). My girl is in the white gown and I’m in a tux and it is just two of us (to avoid some clashing values with local culture. lol).

.

Oh my God, I am so lame!!!! Ha ha…..

.

[This blog is the result after watching Amanda Bynes in What A Girls Want and doesn't feel sleepy although it is already 4.15 am and the sun is coming out in 45 minutes]
